DOWNLOAD "DIRTY WATER" HERE
After the events of last night, it seemed fitting to offer up this download from the 2007 MSP Red Sox Annual. It's almost a part of the background at this point: When a team wins, the song plays. (Yes, we'll admit to playing it on our home stereo during the 2004 Sox playoffs.) But, how did "Dirty Water" become the Boston Victory Anthem? The article, by Bill Nowlin and Chuck Burgess, goes back to when the song debuted, actually talks to the Standells (they were available...), and looks at the events on the field that inspired the choice.
All in all a great read for a Thursday morning after one of the most exciting nights of sports in Boston in quite a while.
